A few rule changes on community’s reaction: Elon Musk personal rants, overzealous advertisement posts, non-essential crypto news effectively disallowed | Ask in DM before posting product reviews or ad
pin
Non-essential crypto news covers crypto advertisement, insignificant news that does not affect legit users like XMR/ETH/BTC holders or darknet users, posts relating to garbage like Brave browser and its coin, and so on. Due to the multiple kinds of crypto posts that pop up, this rule will be applied subjectively on a case-by-case basis. Community complaints about Elon Musk were raised here. https://lemmy.ml/post/7186058 A lot of ad and spam posts appear regularly, which need to be squashed. This will be enforced more heavily from now on. Sometimes legitimate products are advertised, which should be allowed to post. This will be checked per case basis, and unless asked for permission, all such posts will be removed without notice.

Varjo XR-4 Headset “Indistinguishable From Natural Sight”
This seems to be Varjo's response to the Apple Vision Pro. Its significantly cheaper than the last headset, the Varjo XR-3, going from $5,495 to $3990 and also removing the $1000 yearly subscription. Here's a reminder that Apple initially developed much of their software for the Apple Vision Pro using Varjo's XR-3's and the Apple Vision Pro was going to undercut the XR-3 at a price of $3,500. It's also exciting that the new XR-4 is going to be allowed for individuals to purchase, instead of just locked to companies.

Parcelforce then rang me and the agent acknowledged a delivery had not been attempted and that the tracking information was false. It claimed HP had requested that the parcel be returned to sender.

Why Peertube is important and internet users should use it whether how much or little the use of it is over Youtube
Of course i'm not saying internet users have to use it. Or that it has to completely replace Youtube or other streaming services in its complete entirety. Here is why internet users should start using Peertube, no matter how much or less they use it than Youtube. Simply letting them know it exists is key. Peertube is essentially an interface with a varying amount of instances hosted by volunteers that all build up the bigger Peertube federated service with all the videos. Unlike alternatives this makes it more likely to be around long term. it has the highest chance of other video user generated content services being around for years to come due to being federated. If Youtube shuts down good bye to alot of that years worth of content. If a peertube instance closes down only a smaller portion of videos would be lost, but that doesn't close down the entire program because all the other instances in theory would still be feferated. It's open source meaning less chance of seeing ads on or by videos when not using an ad blocker. Donations are always encouraged to help fund the servers. But not required. Summary: 1. longer lasting due to being federated even while making less profits. 2. Peertube is open source. 3. Donations are welcome but not required just to use the services usually.

YouTube is blaming that Firefox delay people been talking about on adblockers.
This delay isn't exclusive to Firefox, it's in any browser where a user has enabled adblockers including in Chrome. Disable the adblocker and this delay magically go away. This was done on purpose.

Elon Musk's social media company X filed a lawsuit against Media Matters for America on Monday, saying it manufactured a report to show advertisers' posts alongside neo-Nazi and white nationalist posts in order to drive advertisers from the platform and destroy X Corp. In response, Media Matters claims that the lawsuit is frivolous and aimed at silencing critics of X. Ironically, a [news](https://twitter.com/bennyjohnson/status/1727121305546240360 ) report this morning revealed that Media Matters is a censorship organization funded by George Soros and others who oppose Western civilization. The organization is said to be designed to suppress certain views. While these big companies are stuck in profit-driven conflicts, the commitment to protecting freedom of speech and privacy seems to have been completely forgotten. Now, the truth is treated as the new hate speech.

Is gmail the easiest Google service to replace or what?
Gmail is an email service. Like the fediverse, email is federated. By changing your email provider, do you really lose anything? You can still contact your friends, contacts and even various customer suports. You also can recieve emails from popular social media apps. If you degoogle from atleast one Google app, maybe Gmail could be the easiest and least life changing one. While, Youtube could easilly be one of the most difficult to degoogle from. Not like literally but emotionally. Like deep down you know you can find mostly all you might need on something like Peertube but not all the entertainment media like on Youtube. You will also become a social outcast if peertube is the only app you use. You might not understand channels people mention in day to day talk from youtube or references. If you use exclusively fediverse apps and sites, Chrome could be almost just as easy to replace as gmail, longterm. However If you use Youtube it won't surprise me that Youtube downgrades your performance and user experience in what ever means neccesary on competing browsers.

A Quinnipiac University poll asked U.S. registered voters to select one of four options to blame for the divisions in the country. Overall, 35 percent blamed social media, 32 percent blamed political leaders, 28 percent blamed cable news channels and only 1 percent blamed other countries.

This is an idea I’ve been toying with for a bit. There is a ton of media that includes unimportant information that doesn’t need to be stored pixel perfect. Storing large portions of the image data as text will save substantial amounts of storage, and as the reality of on-device image generation becoming commonplace sets in digital memories will become the main way people capture the world around them. I think this will inevitably be the next form of media capture (photography and video), not replacing other methods/ formats, but I could see things like phone cameras having saving images as digital memories set to default to save on storage.
